Migrating to Patreon
I will no longer be updating this blog. I have started an account on Patreon and will be posting my work there instead — two articles a week, one on Tuesdays and another on Thursdays. There will also be occasional ad hoc pieces and perhaps even a few podcast-y recordings in the not too distant future. A small minority of the articles will be freely accessible without charge, but most of them will be behind a modest paywall.
I’m doing this because I still want to write for some sort of public audience but I also want to be able to pay my rent (etc.). Currently, this blog offers very little hope of doing that, and covid uncertainty has caused my income to dry up considerably recently. (I work as a language teacher, and did so throughout my PhD and my brief period of actual employment at Leiden.) I’m no longer looking for academic jobs, and even if there were any out there I still wouldn’t be paid for at least the next few months.
I’d like to make a small income from my writing. If you’d like to support me in this endeavour, and if you can afford $3, head on over to my Patreon account and sign up.
I’m also open to paid writing work. I write clean copy quickly. I recently wrote something about cloves for History Today, which you can find here. You can reach me at siwaratrikalpa @ gmail.com.
